In her exhibition 18 + 2, the artist presents an evolving archive of sculptures that she has been developing since 2015. The exhibition’s title is derived from numerical chance, reflecting the unique evolution of her series of ceramic sculptures.

At first glance, the sculptures may appear similar, yet they embody individuality within unity. Each ceramic stone has been shaped by touch, receiving attention and special care. As viewers, we are invited to observe an intimate ritual—one that awakens our curiosity and desire to open these individual containers.

Unintentionally, Fránková’s work resonates with critiques of museum practices put forth by artists such as Piero Manzoni, Annette Messager, Hans Haacke, and Marcel Duchamp. Echoing Walter Benjamin’s words, “An irretrievable image of the past […] threatens to disappear in any present that does not recognize itself as intended in that image.” The exhibition thus explores the artist’s obsessive relationship with her work, simultaneously serving as a critique of museum presentation.
