Nina
Nina Fránková is a visual artist and ceramist, specializing in sculpture, installation, and the production of porcelain tableware. With a strong background in ceramics, her work often explores primeval forms found in nature and emphasizes elements that are usually discarded, highlighting remnants and traces of work with clay.
Fránková studied ceramics and porcelain at the Academy of Art, Architecture, and Design (UMPRUM) in Prague for three years before moving to the Netherlands. She received her BFA in Ceramics from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam in 2012 and her MFA in Fine Arts from the Sandberg Instituut in 2014. She spent several years residing in Amsterdam, where she developed her artistic practice and honed her skills.
Her work has been showcased internationally, with exhibitions and residencies across Europe, Asia, and the United States. Notable locations include the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Belgium, the Republic of Korea, and the United States. In 2016, she was a resident at the European Ceramic Work Center in the Netherlands.
Fránková has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Werkbijdrage Jong Talent Mondriaan Fonds (2016-2017) and a scholarship for professional art practice/visual arts from the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic (2017-2018). In 2022, she created a monograph titled “Hollow,” published by the Dutch publisher Onomatopee.
Currently, Nina Fránková lives and works in Blansko, Czech Republic, continuing her exploration of natural forms and the beauty found in the overlooked and discarded elements of the creative process.
